This position provides general administrative support to the HR Department and is responsible for a variety of functions, including: timekeeping, recruitment and hiring, benefits administration, new employee onboarding, HRIS and file maintenance, leave administration, employee event planning and other duties, as assigned.

 Essential Functions

  • Assists with recruitment, including; updating job descriptions, posting jobs, scheduling interviews, conducting background checks and drafting offer letters.
  • Schedules and conducts new hire and benefit orientations.
  • Screens new hire employment eligibility via E-Verify within the first three days of employment.
  • Processes new hires, rehires & terminations in an accurate and timely manner, ensures all documentation is in order and filed appropriately.
  • Collects and processes benefits enrollments and changes and sets up new benefit deductions for employees in the appropriate pay period for deductions.
  • Manages benefit provider accounts and audits enrollment information for accuracy and reconciles monthly employee benefit insurance billings.
  • Assists with annual open enrollment.
  • Completes employment verifications in a timely manner and accurate manner.
  • Inputs, updates, and processes sensitive employee information requiring absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting responsibilities.
  • Assists with leave administration and ensures compliance with FMLA, OFLA, ADA and other local, State and Federal leave laws.
  • Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Refers all non-routine, complex and/or sensitive issues to HR Director.
  • Maintains records, including filing and general organization, record retrieval, archiving and purging.
  • Creates, maintains, and verifies various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Provides backup to the front desk for breaks and lunches.
  • Assists in organizing company events.
  • Represents TSCO in an ethical and professional manner in all interactions.
  • Assists in continuous improvement initiatives to automate tasks and increase efficiencies.
  • Inspires and promotes teamwork and positive morale.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned. 

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • Ability to work full-time from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State employment and benefits laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; committed to excellence; continuously looks for improvement opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to assist all levels of employees, including executives, directors and third-party stakeholders such as auditors.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience administering time & attendance, benefits, and leaves of absence, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in two or more of the following: hiring/recruiting, performance management, employee relations, position descriptions, employee onboarding, training.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Relevant certification is a plus (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
  • Requires strong proficiency in the use of a variety of software including Excel, Word, Outlook and one or more HRIS, payroll, or timekeeping systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now).
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
