We're looking for a Set-up Machinist with a minimum of 1 year of CNC experince. This is a newly created position, responsible for setting up and operating various CNC and manual equipment; such as mills, lathes, and drill presses to fabricate parts to meet print requirements. The ideal candidate 

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, drills, milling machines.
  • Determines setup needs and applies any jigs or special attachments to perform the machining.
  • Checks machining operation against specified blueprints and drawing tolerances using precision measurement tools.
  • Edits set-up sheets with full details to be used on future setups to repeat the manufacturing process in a consistent manor.
  • Works with production to ensure adherence to production schedules.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media, as required.
  • Works under limited supervision.

 Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • Must have at least one year of experience working with CNC equipment.
  • Ability to inspect tools using basic machinist measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints training provided.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skill.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of CNC and manual Machinist experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk approximately eight hours per day.
  • Ability to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Potentially awkward handling of raw materials: positioning in machining equipment and transfer of material to and from lift carts.
  • Frequent mental and visual attention is necessary.
